1. Introduction

HUSH ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application.

2. Information We Collect

Audio Recording

HUSH requires microphone access to measure ambient noise levels. Audio data is:

Processed locally on your device in real-time
Never recorded, stored, or transmitted
Used only to calculate decibel levels
Immediately discarded after processing

Noise Snapshots

When you save a snapshot, we store locally on your device:

Timestamp of the measurement
Average and peak noise levels (in dBFS)
Noise state classification (SILENCE/NOISE/CHAOS)

This data never leaves your device and is stored using encrypted local storage.

App Preferences

We store your app settings locally:

Display preferences (show numeric values, haptic feedback)
Theme selection
Calibration thresholds
Pro status (if purchased)

3. Third-Party Services

Google AdMob

We use Google AdMob to display advertisements. AdMob may collect:

Device identifiers (Advertising ID)
IP address
Device information (model, OS version)
Ad interaction data

Firebase Analytics & Crashlytics

We use Firebase to:

Analyze app usage and performance
Detect and fix crashes
Improve user experience

Firebase collects anonymous usage data. See Firebase Privacy.

User Messaging Platform (UMP)

We use Google's UMP to manage GDPR consent for users in the EU/EEA. You can manage your ad personalization preferences in Settings.

4. Data Usage

We use collected data to:

Provide core noise measurement functionality
Display relevant advertisements (if not Pro user)
Analyze app performance and fix issues
Improve features and user experience

5. Data Storage & Security

All personal data is stored locally on your device
We use Android's encrypted DataStore and Room database
No audio recordings are ever stored
Snapshots and settings remain on your device only

6. Data Sharing

We do NOT:

Sell your personal information
Share audio recordings (we never capture them)
Share snapshots with third parties
Track your location

Third-party services (AdMob, Firebase) may collect data as described in their policies.

7. Children's Privacy

HUSH is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

8. Your Rights (GDPR)

If you are in the EU/EEA, you have the right to:

Access your data (stored locally on your device)
Delete your data (uninstall the app or clear app data)
Manage ad personalization (Settings → Manage Consent)
Opt out of personalized ads

9. Data Retention

Snapshots: Stored until you delete them or uninstall the app
Settings: Stored until you uninstall the app
Analytics data: Retained by Firebase according to their policy

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted with an updated "Last updated" date.

Purpose: Display ads, Firebase analytics
Can disable: No (required for ads)
